We handle the waste on your project
What a Waste brings together two family businesses: Van Paridon, founded in 1925, and Van Dalen, founded in 1959. Together we take care of waste on building sites, business premises and events across the Netherlands, along with the practical work that comes with it. You get one contact who knows your project and picks up the phone.
What we do
Containers
Skips and wheelie bins for construction, commercial and household waste. All-in price, four weeks of free rental, no deposit.
Scheduled collection
Fixed collection rounds per waste stream, from an office or restaurant to an industrial site.
Clearances
Homes and commercial premises emptied and swept clean, with an eye for reuse.
Events
Waste management, rPET cup recycling, cleaning and crews on festivals and events. On site since 2014.
Reporting
Weights, recycling rates and CO₂ savings per order, in our own customer portal.
Why work with us
- One contact who knows your project, not a call centre.
- Three processing sites within the group, plus partners across the country.
- The best processor per waste stream: nearby where possible, circular where possible.
- Your figures and recycling rates in writing, ready for your own reporting.
About our name
What a Waste means two things, and we mean both of them.
The first is the obvious one: what a shame. A shame to burn timber that still has a table in it, or a cup that was used once. Our work is about getting out what is still in there.
The second is the reason the name stuck: what a shame to keep doing it the old way. The waste industry runs on fixed routes, paper tickets and “that is how it has always been done”. We are stubborn enough to keep asking whether it can be done differently.
Across the border
We work beyond the Netherlands. In Belgium we cover Flanders through to Brussels, and in Germany we work in North Rhine-Westphalia. Not by driving everything from Utrecht: in both countries we work with the same partner networks we use here, so there is proper collection and processing infrastructure close to your site.
- Belgium: Flanders through to Brussels.
- Germany: North Rhine-Westphalia.
- Local partners for collection and processing, so the haulage stays short.
- One point of contact in the Netherlands, whichever country the work is in.
